Sunday was our Land Dedication and Church Service. This is our own private property where FREEDOM of speech is encouraged and Pt. Lookout POWs are honored with "THEIR FLAG." It was well attended with over ninety well wishers! I’d like to thank Doug DeLozier for donating the beautiful ceremony ribbons that were placed in the programs.
Lee’s Miserables marched in, singing ‘Dixie’ with the 21 flags what will fly in our ring of flags when we erect our POW statue. Dan Kesler led everyone in the Salute to the Confederate Battle Flag. Patricia Buck gave the history of Confederate Memorial Park and read "I Am Their Flag" by Michael Bradley.
UNCENSORED Welcoming Remarks were given by Rick Griffin and Commissioner Larry Jarboe. Commissioner Larry Jarboe presented us with the St. Mary’s County Flag. We proudly accept the honor to fly it in Confederate Memorial Park!
Our drummer boy, Wade Harris, III gave heart throbbing drum rolls as the Confederate Memorial Park, Inc. committee members cut the ribbon for the Official Land Dedication. Those doing the honors were Jim Dunbar,Vice Chm; Frank Towberman, Treasure; Fran Towberman, Secretary; Dan Kesler and Chet Magno. Special singing/playing (You Got It All Wrong) was performed by Wade Harris who really set the mood for our Flag’s honor.
Rev. Herman White and Fr. Alister Anderson delivered Church Service. Both preached an ole time revival! Nobody goes to sleep when these two are in the pulpit! They preached on how important religion was during the war, how God fearing our ancestors were and how it would benefit us if we followed in their footsteps.
Fran Towberman closed our ceremony by leading the congregation in singing "Amazing Grace". We then prayed the Lords Prayer together.
